The idea of a residential national park, where people live as custodians of the land, appealed to Round the Bend Conservation Co-operative members.

Early documents and articles talk of living in harmony with the land, and creating a model for future communities interested in conservation. This concept is embraced in Round the Bend Conservation Co-operative purpose to this day.
