Our 130 hectares of Land for Wildlife native forest is part of an important network of precious bushland forming the wildlife conservation corridor between Kinglake National Park and Warrandyte State Park.

Where State-wide our broader landscape is increasingly degraded, weed-infested or subject to development, the importance of maintaining high quality areas of native bush is vital. Round the Bend Conservation Co-operative is one of these rare places. With 19 Australian eco-systems collapsing and a million animal and plant species now threatened with extinction the conservation of unique habitat such as ours is increasingly important. Your help is urgently needed to support this endeavour.

Our work is guided by expert advice and is aimed at protecting the habitat of fauna such as Brush-tailed Phascogales, Powerful Owls and White-throated Nightjars; over 50 species of native orchids, and so many other native creatures and plants currently under threat in our State. This work is funded by our Members as well as by grants. We carry out all works ourselves, except where specialist skills are required.

100% of Patron fees go towards management of the land for biodiversity and habitat. This includes:

  • Ongoing weeding programs

  • Purchasing, planting and monitoring rare plants (such as Hibbertia and orchids)

  • Purchasing materials (night-vision cameras, plant guards, stakes, nest boxes etc)

  • Research projects

  • Monitoring fauna and nest boxes

  • Working with other organisations and government bodies

  • Feral animal control (foxes and deer)

No administrative costs come out of Patron fees.

As a sustainability activist-scholar, I regard the community-based conservation goals and achievements of RTBCC as highly significant both in their direct impacts and as a model for other regions and other communities.

Being a Patron is a fantastic opportunity to support a substantial and enduring residential neighbourhood that protects local biodiversity, enhances species' habitats and nurtures ecological integrity.
