EXCAVATING A HOUSE SITE BY HAND!

December 4, 2017

Early Co-op members were so determined not bring weeds onto the land that they dug by hand the first house site for fear of machinery bringing in seeds from outside the area. The sheer hard yakka of that task modified the thinking and earthmoving machines subsequently used were washed before entering the Round the Bend Conservation Co-operative’s land. Unfortunately this is one practice that has not continued. Is that why we’re starting to battle weeds on Co-op tracks today?
