In May 2012 the Co-op received a Communities for Nature grant from the Department of Sustainability and Environment to carry out a project called Framework for Strategic Action: weeds.

The objectives of this project are:

1. To undertake a comprehensive field survey that maps and assesses native vegetation quality and the impact of weeds.

2. To produce a priority-setting framework for managing the environmental impact of weeds based on:

a. protecting the zones that have the greatest biodiversity values,

b. identifying the most threatening weeds,

c. and preventing new and emerging weeds from establishing.

3. To use this framework of prioritised actions to guide our on-ground works.

5. To engage Members in the project.

The result of the first objective is the report Weed Mapping and Management Strategy produced by Karen Jolly and Dylan Osler, which is made available here. (This link will take you to Dropbox from where you can download the pdf file to view it. It is a very large file being 41MB)
